Full Bio

Asian Takeout is Chicago’s premiere Asian American improv/sketch team featuring some of Chicagoland’s best comedians. Our mission is to amplify, support and highlight comedians and performers of AAPI descent while providing community to our performers and audiences.

Ensemble member, Lauren Hugh is the producer of Asian Takeout. She met each member of the current team through different audition and callback processes throughout the city. She found something special, silly and unique in the talents they each had to offer and compiled this team. She cold messaged all of them, some having only met once or a handful of times. To her extreme luck, they all said yes to her crazy idea and they have all been madly in love with each other ever since. She did a similar thing to secure their coach, Louie Cordon (BOOM! Chicago, Second City) by reaching out to him through a submission form on his website and then won him over with a hot chocolate.

The members of Asian Takeout come from many backgrounds (not only ethnically, but training-wise too)! Many of our members are Second City Conservatory graduates, have trained at The Annoyance, iO (formerly Improv Olympic), UCB and ComedySportz. Our members also include Second City Victor Wong Fellowship recipients and iO House Team members.

If you’re ever in our neck of the woods, we have a monthly show that takes place on the second Sunday of every month at Kamehachi Sushi in Old Town, Chicago called “Today’s Specials”. Follow us on Instagram @asiantakeoutimprov to keep up with our shows and festival travels.
