WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
Through a series of short talks followed by exercises, we will explore how improv can help parents connect with their kids. Though we will focus on content related to younger kids, this workshop is appropriate for parents, people who might be parents someday, teachers/caregivers, and anyone who wants to explore how being playful can help you to access a new level of patience, lower the stakes of a situation, and bring you closer in your relationships with loved ones. Perfect parenting doesn’t exist, but playful parenting is more fun anyway!

More About The Instructor:
Mia Iseman took her first improv class in 2012 at the Hideout Theatre in Austin, TX because playing Ultimate for her main hobby was honestly too painful. Since that first class, she was hooked and took full advantage of the booming and supportive Austin comedy scene. She performed often on the main stage and house teams at Hideout, Coldtowne, Fallout, and more, participating in formats ranging from genre-based narratives to weekly Armandos, including a few Out of Bounds headline shows. In 2019, she moved to Washington, where she has played with the indie team Buttholes (what a great name, looks professional in a bio), played Jackbox games (like the rest of us during the pandemic), gotten back in front of an audience with Bandit Theater, and formed her own indie team, Old AF. She’s learned a lot of stuff about a lot of things along the way and can’t wait to share it with anyone who will appreciate it even slightly more than her toddlers do.
