WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

What if you didn’t have to rush into the scene?

The Space Before the Scene is an improv workshop focused on trusting the moments before a scene fully begins—and recognizing that everything is an offer. Through a variety of guided exercises, improvisers will explore multiple ways to start scenes, including quiet openings, physical choices, eye contact, environment, and shared focus.
This workshop invites players to slow down, listen deeply, and build from what is already present—the way a partner stands, sits, breathes, or looks at you. You’ll practice beginning scenes without pressure to “make something happen,” learning how both partners can take their time while still creating engaging, grounded work.

Together, we’ll explore how intentional starts lead to stronger relationships, clearer choices, and more connected scenes. Whether a scene begins in silence or with a simple action, you’ll leave with tools to trust the opening and let the story emerge naturally.
